Mace's Hideout 50
This 50-miler takes place in early June through Colorado's Wet Mountains near Beulah, with runners starting and finishing at Pueblo Mountain Park. The course features six aid stations spread across challenging mountain terrain, with a 16-hour cutoff that extends into the night. Drop bags are permitted at two strategic points along the route. Expect significant elevation changes as the trail winds through varied Colorado mountain landscapes, moving between forested sections and more exposed terrain. The course typically showcases views of the surrounding Sangre de Cristo Mountains, though much of your attention will be on navigating the technical and demanding sections underfoot. June conditions can range from pleasant morning temperatures to afternoon heat, with potential for mountain weather changes throughout the day. Runners comfortable with long, technical mountain courses and nighttime running will find this race well-suited to their strengths. The no-pacer policy for the 50-mile distance means self-sufficiency is essential, and the midnight cutoff requires steady pacing from the start. Those new to mountain ultras or uncomfortable running in darkness should consider the demands carefully.
