Bobcat Trail Races 50K
The Bobcat Trail Races 50K takes place each October in Palmer Park, right in the heart of Colorado Springs. This 31-mile course features 3,600 feet of climbing across a mix of technical singletrack, rolling hills, and rocky bluffs at around 6,600 feet elevation. The route follows multiple loops through Palmer Park's trail system. Runners move between shaded forested sections and more exposed rocky terrain, with consistent views of Colorado Springs below and Pikes Peak in the distance. The course stays within the city park boundaries but feels surprisingly remote in sections, particularly around the Palmer Point area where much of the climbing occurs. Nine aid stations provide regular support, including a mid-race return to the start/finish area. This race suits runners comfortable with moderate technical terrain and steady climbing rather than steep, punchy ascents. The October timing typically brings cool mornings and pleasant conditions, though weather can shift quickly at altitude. Runners who enjoy urban trail systems with solid views and don't mind repeating sections of trail will find this course appealing.
