Rattler Trail Race 10K
The Rattler Trail Race 10K takes runners through Palmer Park's technical singletrack trails in Colorado Springs this April. With about 700 feet of climbing over 6.2 miles, the course winds through sandstone bluffs and unique rock formations while offering panoramic views of the city and Pikes Peak. Expect challenging terrain despite the modest elevation gain—these trails demand attention with their technical nature and rocky sections. The route showcases Palmer Park's diverse landscape, moving between exposed areas where you can take in the Front Range views and more sheltered sections among the distinctive red rock formations. At around 6,300 feet elevation, spring weather can be variable, so plan for anything from cool morning starts to warm afternoon conditions. Runners comfortable with technical trail running will appreciate the variety here, while those new to rocky, uneven terrain might find it more demanding than the elevation numbers suggest. This feels like a solid introduction to Colorado Springs trail running without requiring a full day commitment.
