Course Overview
The Deep Creek Trail Half Marathon takes runners on a 13-mile journey through Colorado's high country, starting at the Telluride Airport and finishing in town at Oak Street Park. This late-September race follows Last Dollar Road before diving into singletrack that winds through aspen-filled woods along Deep Creek, with the route being mostly trail and semi-technical in nature. Expect to run through golden aspen groves as fall colors peak, with the course dropping from the airport down to the Deep Creek Corral before following singletrack back toward Telluride. The high altitude and mountain setting mean weather can shift quickly, and the semi-technical terrain requires attention to footing. Three aid stations provide standard trail fare, with the second offering a more extensive selection for the longer stretch ahead. This race suits runners comfortable with high-altitude trail running and technical terrain who want to experience Colorado's fall colors without extreme distance. The 5-hour cutoff allows for a relaxed pace to enjoy the scenery, but runners should come prepared for mountain weather and be self-sufficient on remote singletrack sections.
