Rock Hawk 25K
The Rock Hawk 25K covers 15.6 miles through Castle Rock's Miller Park and Ridgeline Trail systems in late August, with around 1,667 feet of climbing. The course follows a loop format that takes runners out to two main aid stations — Crossover and Clear Sky — before returning to the start/finish area. While not overly technical, these rolling trails offer consistent elevation changes and wide-open views across Colorado's Front Range. The route moves between different trail systems, providing variety in terrain and scenery without major technical challenges. August temperatures can climb, so early morning conditions will likely be more comfortable than the later portions of the race. This works well for runners looking for a solid training effort without extreme technicality or massive elevation gain. The moderate distance and manageable climbing make it accessible to newer trail runners, while the rolling terrain and summer heat still provide a decent challenge for more experienced runners testing fitness or preparing for longer events.
