Samson's Revenge 10k
The Samson's Revenge 10K takes place in late May at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. This 6.2-mile trail race packs 1,200 feet of climbing into what organizers describe as "fast single track with a big King of the Mountain challenge slapped in the middle." The course runs on the historic home turf of Samson, a famous elk who roamed these grounds until 1995. Runners tackle primarily single track terrain with one significant climb that defines the race's character. An aid station at Bible Point marks the high point and serves as what organizers call a "party" location. At over 7,500 feet elevation, expect Colorado mountain conditions that can shift quickly in late spring. This race suits runners comfortable with sustained climbing and variable mountain weather. The single track nature and focused elevation gain make it a solid choice for those wanting a challenging but manageable trail experience without the commitment of the longer distances offered alongside the 10K.
